Vodka

Vodka was introduced to the US after the Second World War with the production of Smirnoff.  The next big push came when Pepsi Cola needed something to trade with the Soviet Union instead of cash to pay for Pepsi sold in the Soviet Union. Vodka’s neutral taste allowed it by 1975 to pass bourbon as the largest selling liquor in the US.  Today vodka has over a 30% market share of the US market and keeps increasing it’s numbers every year.

There are many things said about where vodka originated or what it is suppose to be made of but one thing is certain the Eastern Europeans are the largest per capita consumers and know a thing or two about how it’s made.

That is why Lake Distilling’s flows and automation systems were designed and implemented by people from Ukraine and Russia.  Our head distiller is shared with Nemiroff in Ukraine and it is safe to say we have people on our staff who know vodka and how to make it. While we have experts from the former Soviet Union making the vodka, the ingredients come from our farm or our neighbors’ farms.

New York’s Finger Lakes region long known for its waterfalls and clean clear lakes is also home to some of the softest wheat in the world.  Soft wheat makes smooth vodka and Finger Lakes soft white fits that category completely. When you couple soft white wheat with pure clean water you get the finest vodka available anywhere.
